“… and I have no idea how I will face the kids on Christmas Day when they haven’t got any presents and Christmas lunch is going to be a vegemite sanga”.
As I write the last few words of this, yet another application for help, the emotions take over. Everyone else is asleep in bed and I realise exactly how bad this situation really is right now.
We have worked so hard all of these years, through this bloody drought and here we are 7 years in and it couldn’t get much worse. The kids are walking around with shoes with holes in them, I can’t remember the last time any of us ate something that did come of a can or packet.
No presents this year for the kids though, this is a hard pill to swallow, but I just don’t know how I can do it. We are going to have to have a talk with them, explain that we will make it up to them. The rain will come…. one day and times will get better after a while. I just wish they didn’t have to face this reality like adults do.
To our Drought Angels family,
We cannot let this happen! Our farming families are genuinely facing this issue RIGHT NOW! There are families out there that will not exchange gifts, will not sit down to a lovely meal together and enjoy each other’s company.
What can we do?
Drought Angels is making a commitment to our registered farming families. We want to buy your Christmas lunch, and we would love YOUR HELP!
We want to provide a $100 prepaid card in order to help them pay for a lovely Christmas lunch. This means these families are going to be able to sit down and eat something together, enjoy the love of a family and draw strength and love from one another for the challenges that still lay ahead.
Whether it be a $5 donation or $100, every cent will help to provide these deserving families with a special Christmas lunch that they can enjoy together.
Our goal is to raise $200,000 to help provide these prepaid cards, can you help us?
